Just couldn't do it

Well, if any of you recall, I was just fed up with the issues on the GS and was getting into the new ES350 and moving on.

Well after many test drives and mentally beating myself up over the decision, I have come to the conclusion that I just have to stay with a GS. Everything from the ride, to the look, to the RWD, is just too nice to give up. As nice as the ES is, it's just not a GS replacement. The dealer is moving me over to the GS350 when it's available in October and taking back the 300. I guess I can put up with the cracking an popping dash until then, and hopefully I'm not looking at a third transmission during this time. Lets just hope all these issues are fixed with the new 350.

So, what can I say... I'm back.

I admire your decision to stay with the GS, considering the extraordinary events which have factored into your decision. I saw the new ES at the NY auto show and was truly impressed; it appears to be a much larger car inside. This, combined with FWD will certainly have different drive characteristics which for me don't quite stand out. I frequently drive the prior generation ES (have one in the family) and it's more sedate, though strong and quiet, but lacks in handling. It also lacks the more aggressive stance of the GS. Clearly, they are two very different cars. :agreed:

The GS 350 will certainly be the "best" of both worlds, with all the bugs worked out from the 06 GS introductory model year, latest gen technology, and most importantly the more powerful engine! As a side note I am completely satisfied with the power in my GS; it's more than enough to get into trouble!

Good luck with the 350; let us know how it works out.

Wow. And I was just about to send you a PM to see whether you new ES came in yet.

I assume you moved from your first GS to your second at little or no charge. Are you getting the same deal (i.e., little or no charge) on the GS350 or is there a bit of an upcharge? Either way, it's a great move and one heck of a story.

I cancelled the ES order and worked out an agreement for the GS350. As with my second GS300, I'll walk out of the lease and into the new one... no money, same payment. They are great to work with. I just hate waiting until October.

Wow, that is great. I had a ES350 loaner and was impressed by it. But personally, I prefer the driving dynamics of the GS. GS350 with the new engine and updated nav? Sounds like a great outcome for you. Congratulations.

It's great to hear that your dealership is taking such good care of you.

Yeah, I have absolutely no issues with the dealership. They have tried their best to fix the issues, but all of them were design issues or straight out mechanical failures... but they dealt with them the best, I think any dealership could do.

Not to mention accommodating my frustration.
