how long did you work on the car for with all those on?

i have worked on ls460 and gs350 with everything on (working on vaistech) including headlights and screen and sometimes ac, the battery never died

but another time i worked on a ls430, hid off, but acc on a few times to test the setup, and battery died already

I've got to say - I'm not impressed with Lexus batteries. I'm on my third one and my car is 17 months old and has only 9700 miles on the clock. My previous car was a BMW which I drove less and whose battery lasted 5 years.
I have an 06 GS430 I recently changed it with almost 150k it was still good but time to change it after 7 years. Batteries go bad easily if it become fully discharged too.

Default Thanks for write up and new concealed display location

I really appreciate the write up and pictures. It made the install much much easier. I decided to try something little different with my concealed display (CD)location. i wanted it out of sight when I had the car off so I decided to hollow out the ashtray and place the CD down in ashtray. I made the hole deep enough that the ashtray door still closes.

I used the same directions as the ones in this thread. I used a Dremel tool to hollow out the ashtray. I wasn't really concerned with how the ashtray would look since the CD would be covering any imperfections in my Dremel skills. You do have to take apart the mechanism that opens and closes the door so you can drill a hole for the cord to pass through. I am going to attach a few pics so you can see what I mean. All in all, it was very easy.

How is the visibility of the remote display in the ash tray? Do you find yourself looking down at the CD, or looking up at the main unit to get an idea of "bogeys?"
