GS300 map problem
I just took delivery of a 2006 GS300 with map and ml system. The map works fine UNTIL I enter the community where I live (it's big... 10,000 people in an almost rural environment). It is as if the whole community street map is shown correctly, but on the display is shifted sideways from its correct position. It plots my house and street and surrounding streets a significant distance away from their actual position... much farther than the gps accuracy. In fact, when I try to change the position shown manually, it just snaps back, since the gps signal is fine. I haven't checked out the whole community accuracy (it's a 25 minute drive from one end to the other) but it's sure incorrect at my end (which is the most recently developed).
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Any suggestions?

I've noticed a little displacement in rural areas but it seems to correct itself as I drive father. Our house seems off about 30' but the route in keeps me on the road. I just attribute it to stray neutrinos.
It actually seems amazing to me how accurate it is.

The problem is that the entire area map is hundreds of feet off. It won't even stay on the roads when I drive in this area. Has anyone had such a large offset problem with their map?

Is there a cell tower in your neighborhood?
I have been using a GPS for over 5 years (2001 Lexus LS430) and there are many locations where the map is way off. For example, in San Diego a portion the recently completed Ted Williams Pkwy (hwy 56) and some neighborhoods around Camino Del Sur are so far off that the car location arrow is way off the freeway in the map. This happens in both, my LS430 (with an 04 updated map) and my wife's 06GS430.
It has nothing to do with the GPS, it's the inaccurate maps provided to Lexus by NavTec (the company they buy the data from). There is very little you can do but hope that the next map release (supposed to be sometime in January) will fix the maps of your area.

Thanks for the replies. I assumed it had to be the mapping data for my area.
Has anyone succeeded in convincing their dealer to give them a free update to fix this sort of problem?
