i kinder figure out the avalon's cause they look alike so much just like the 06 gs and the 06 avalon the reason i say interchangle is that i buy parts of the 96 v6 camry to put on my 96 es300 just because sometimes they think just cause you have a lexus you have money and they are the same car but a little things changed around
not even the avalon. avalon is fwd and the gs is rwd. the gs is completely on its own platform and it's NOT shared with any of the toyota as far as i know.
same with the new IS, don't even think it's anything related to the corolla.
that's correct. i also read before that the GX is based on the highlander or landcruiser platform i forgot, but i didn't dig into it.
but if you ask me, camry and es330 is as close as we get, which to be honest i don't really like. i wish all lexus would be on their own totally separate platforms. but the good thing about putting the es330 and camry on the same platform is that it does help to put cost down a bit. don't get me wrong, i dont' think they really share any significant parts, just that the manufacture cost might be lower
actually, the new IS runs on a shortened version of the new GS platform. The SC shares the same platform as the 2nd gen GS
Also, the GX and the 4Runner are based on the Toyota Prado (not sold here)
The avalon is a long-wheelbase version of the camry platform. The camry platform is used on a number of vehicles -- camry, avalon, highlander, rx330, es330
there are others shared platform vehicles too if you are interested....

If memory serves, approx 40% of the parts are common between the shared platform vehicles. It varies by model obviously, but it averages around 40%. the other 60% is comprised of the cosmetic aspects of the vehicle (exterior sheetmetal, interior trim).

The Es and camry = same car almost....same chassis for sure, the highlander and RX330 all on camry frame. The LX is a landcruiser, the future holds JX 470 or something like that built on a sequoia frame which is a tundra chassis.
Only temporarily. The new avalon uses the new 3.5L engine that will slowly replace the old 3.0 and 3.3L engines in the lineup because the avalon uses the new camry platform that is scheduled to come out next year. The 3.5L in the avalon is basically a de-tuned version of the 3.5L that is in the new IS350.
