The GS350 will share the GR family engine with dual VVT-i, 16:1 air/fuel ratio and almost 1,800 psi of fuel pressure. It will produce over 300 hp( 319 hp from what I've heard) and good fuel economy.
The 460 will be the same platefrom with the V-8 directed injection, so I think the hp# will be a few more. I figure if the 3.5 can produced 319 hp, what about the 4.6?.
Wait so this summer Lexus will introduce the GS350 and the 460 to Japan or just the 350 and the 430? What will they use the new 3.0v6 after they put the 3.5 in the GS here? I know this has been discussed already but they should have waited and just released the GS either at the sametime with Japan or early with the 3.5 engine. When is the est date of the release of the 460? Great PS im sure if they came out we will see them downsouth with 2 tone paint jobs and 22" wheels

I know the GS430 could still have higher torque than the GS350, but that's an unusual way to differentiate if true . . .

The GS350, GS430, and the GS450h are all being introduced into Japan at the same time I think. Well the GS450h is already on the Japanese Lexus website. Here's where I got the power figure from.

It actually says its the IS350 that produces 318hp but that'd be the same for the GS350 I assume.

If the 3.5 produces 318 or 319HP, it may well be at very high rpms so its torque curve is likely to be very different to the V8 so even if max. horsepower is similar, the two cars will drive very differently. Still that's an impressive number out of a 3.5, especially since Lexus is getting good fuel economy too.
And Mike I doubt Lexus will keep the GS300 around once the GS350 is here because the pricing would be complex (GS300, GS300AWD, GS350, GS350AWD), unless Lexus (like BMW) does more to differentiate the models than just engines.

A friend of mine wants to get a 3rd Gen GS but does not want the 300 or the 430, but does want the 350 and wants to know approximately how long he has to wait.

I don't see A PROBLEM with the HP numbers of the GS350 being higher than the IS350.
Fixed...there are you happy now?
