Default run flats and ride

really like gs430/ ga300 hate the ride, I do not think its the suspension, but the very expensive runflats. Why oh why did you do this. no spare, hard ride. easily damaged in pot holed New England. Dealler response"when they wear out yu can replace them "

I agree the ride is a bit firmer then my prior 2nd gen gs 300, but again, my salesperson never even told me they were run-flat tires. Hmmmm....

I do have a spare.. I saw it

the new gs are on runflat?! i wonder why they do that?

but if it's really runflat, that's a bad decision. it's so stiff

Oh no! Looks like we have another SC430 situation. Do all the GS's come with runflats or are they part of an option package?

Was this an option, or standard? And why do you need runflats if there is a spare?

Agree w/ the stiffness. My SC430 has them and boy the ride can be harsh on those freeways, but I feel better having the runflats I guess since there is no spare. Tough trade-off, but didn't want to spend money on new tires until I had to!

Default possible some of you do not have run flats

In North east that's all you get with no spare. If you want a donut spare you can pay extra for it.

I am not a fan of run flats either. And EVERY car on run flats pretty much has a harsher ride than regular tires. Reading car reviews, they prefer regular tires as well.

You can opt for regular tires.

There is no reall option yet. Cars just only come that way. If enough people complain that may change

pretty much all northeast '06 allocation has the cars with run flat tires, with no spare.

Would be a special order to get it wtih the 'summer' tires in the northeast. But do you really want to special order and get Dunlop SP Sport 2050's? (or 2030's for 18")

Would be better off (IMO) to pick a make/model of tire (pilot A/S?) and put them on a set of the 'Accessory' wheels. Use the orig. wheels for you're snows. Do you really want to pay labor to swap over Run flats for Snow tires twice a year?

you can get a spare wheel/tire right now from the dealer, but as of yet there is no bulliten to 'add a spare' like there is specificaly for the SC430.

Sucks they are using run flats; Ruins the ride.
Sucks more that a spare tire isnt in the trunk of every GS with run flats and that will cost you more.

oh well, still persuing the perfection i guess

I just got my Sports Car INternational. They tested the new E90 2006 3. BMW engineers admitted that run-flats with their stiffer sidewalls caused them some problems on previous cars, namely the current 5. They said run-flats are now in their 4th generation and they designed the new 3 to work with run-flats and regular tires. They never did that before.

lexus attempted to change the springs/shocks on the 05 sc430 hoping to make the ride better with run flat, but i can say that it doesn't really help much -- the ride is still stiff from the tires.

but in any case, it's definitely a bad decision imho, it sux...

and 1sick, you can opt for it but that might mean a special order as well (more expensive most of the time). just like here in cali you can't get sc430 without runflat. sux
