February GS sales!

From Flipside

GS sales were boosted by the launch of the all-new 2006 GS 300 and GS 430 luxury performance sedans in late February. The GS 300 had sales of 1,602, an increase of 196.1 percent, while the GS 430 posted sales of 345, an increase of 222.4 percent.

The GS was not even officially launched and they sold almost 2k cars.  That is amazing. The launch is today, MArch 1st with FULL advertising. Basically nearly 2k people bought the new GS on WORD OF MOUTH. There was hardly any press or news to the general public, only auto nuts like you and me. :D

rominl 03-01-05 11:44 AM

HAHA the % increase is just insanely ridiculous :)

this is aweswome. i wanna see the number for march

and also keep in mind, they are going to get in more GS, and later this yr the new hybrid rx... lexus can only import so many cars a yr, that means the allocation for other lexus models are going to drop, which means prices might go up a bit (or stay strong) on those

Gojirra99 03-01-05 11:48 AM

I suppose they're real sales & not orders ?

If so, they' ve sold 2000+ cars already in a couple weeks & it isn't officially on sale til March

flipside909 03-01-05 11:51 AM

The phenomenon begins! Those numbers are definitely outstanding.

frebay 03-01-05 11:58 AM

i wonder how long the wait period will be for people who want the car now...

It looks good for the new GS in the US.

DaveGS4 03-01-05 01:48 PM

So how do we tell if this is for people buying the 2006 GS or making great deals on the 2005?

soon2benags4 03-01-05 01:58 PM

Particulars:

GS300 RWD

They didn't seperate the 05 and 06 model. Last month, they did state with the sales figures that the 2GS met sales expectations as they limited production of the model. It looks to be a lil over 700 last month

Out of the two thousand car sold let see how many will make it onto this site :uh: plain stock or moded to the wildest extreme!!!!! :woot:

JellyBean 03-01-05 02:56 PM

A little bit off-topic, but according to those figures, the GS430 was Toyota's least-sold car in February 2004. (I couldn't say "least popular" because I'm sure a lot of people wanted it, but couldn't afford it.) Boy I hope I have a classic on my hands...

hmm, what do you mean "made [you] a great deal"? i'm starting to get the sense that not everyone is paying MSRP - can this be true?? :eek2:

soon2benags4 03-01-05 04:02 PM

No no no, I still paid MSRP. But I had a 02 GS300 with a negative balance that they worked really well with me on. At first, no one wanted to do this because it decreased the profit margin.
