[HELP] Radio / Amp Issues (can't sort)
Hello Friends, So I am stuck in a big conundrum, my sound system, and I cant seem to find a solution:
- One day I was driving around in my car and one evening i heard how to music volume faded away and suddenly there was no sound. The screen prompted "Audio Off". Evrerything was working fine, the A/C, etc.- The following day, I get in my car, and Idont recall the exact error but it was of the sort of "Air Conditioning Malfunction" and the Radio would prompt "Audio Off". - After 2 days a fellow Club Lexuser told me to "Disconnect the Amp, that would solve my A/C problem and explained how moisture because of the trunk vent creeps into the amp and destroys the MOSFET. - I unplugged the Amp, A/C works. - Sometime later, the A/C would pause before being accessible, with the Defroster button's orange LED blinking for several seconds. 20 seconds or so later, the A/C would work. I haven't been able to find anywhere what causes that error, no diagnostic tool provides a code, and no info online or in here. - A local Lexus shop which has tons of spare sparts told me they have the Pioneer amp, when we plugged one in the harness, Same A/C and Audio Off error. We tried 2 amps he had lying around, none worked. - 2 weeks later, I was told of and audio shop which has over the years done installs and that they use to publish Lexus stereo gear for sale. I went there and he had 3 Pioneer Lexus GS amps. None of them worked and he guaranteed that the first one we plugged in came from a working car. So I've tried at the LEAST two amps that were told to be working, and tried 5 amps and nothing. I dont really feel like buying an amp, and having it not work, and then have the ordeal of sending it back (i'm overseas). So what can I do. I had my shop check relays and fuses everywhere and everything is in order. Is there a way to test the harness? Is there a diagnostic system withing the radio I can run that would say what link isnt broken? Im still in the process of finishing my build, but I will not buy aftermarket gear until the build is done, those 700 bucks are still important in more important areas of the finishing touches. Any insights is welcomed. Paul |
