It may be time to replace my 3rd gen GS
Car has had a helluva ride and it looks like it will succumb to some dumb thing like mechanic unable to extract CV axle from transmission... a 2010 AWD GS, the passenger side CV axle will not come out and the mechanic fucked it up beyond repair. Has anyone had experience getting a suck axle out? Otherwise it is time for a new car.
it should pop out, although I've heard that they can be a real PIA. get a big ol' slide hammer on it, and try rotating the wheel to different positions. how capable is your mechanic? would it be worth trying another mechanic?
It took me two days of heat, penetrating fluid through the bolt hole, and hitting it with a long chisel for it to finally come out

Nice detailed post... I beat at it for 2 days with a 5lb slide hammer, and then took it to tire/suspension shop that fully fucked it up so now it is towed to a place that has heat... hopefully they can get it out. Any chance it was from a "Northern Climate"...I see all that rust on the bearing carrier housing in your pictures, I feel like I am fighting time with all the rust thanks to the car having been in Canada for most of its life.
The car runs fine, but at this point it feeling like I don't even know where to being looking... what do people "graduate to", was looking at another sedan Lexus, or BMW, or Audi.... briefly had my eye on a Tundra, but then my wife's NX was totaled and we upgraded to an RX so we have a large vehicle.
