Hello Folks, back after a long pause. Still rocking my 07 GS350 in black, which is not 8 years with me and very proud of it, unfortunately my radio unit is fading out, its almost gone, I purchased a complete unit out of ebay which is almost brand new, but... its the part number 86111-30400, when i plugged it its not compatible and i noticed the interface is like white, grey and green, with a retro like icons etc.. and my GS350 unit is dark with more stylish icons. My question is, do they have different firmware or radio units versions ? probably i purchased one out of a GS300 instead of a GS350? im super confused.

Is there a way to update the firmware of the unit I purcahsed so i dont have to purchase another one? Are the LCD screen swappable? Anyone already had this problem? its driving me nuts and my screen is fading and fading day after day ...

 

You bought 05-06 unit, Lexus updated their firmware 2 times 2007, 2010 and added new features and new look (theme).
I think you cant update or "flash" new software these are old school built in firmware. my friend has 06 GS430 JDM specs in Japanese interface and he couldn't even switch to English.
I believe also the vendor is different too. from Pioneer to DENSO.

 

Thanks Sam for the reply! Now I understand, I will try to check I can at least swap the screen only otherwise I will need to purchase a 2007-2008 unit and make sure i got pics of it turned on before.

 

Found the right one and replaced my unit. It looks so nice now!!

I swapped the lower half at the weekend because the button backlights had all blown. Took it out a few weeks ago to investigate and found out they're all LEDs micro soldered onto the PCB. Nope!

Eventually found the right model on eBay from some seller in Lithuania. Looks so much better now.
