Question High Mileage GS430

I Just found a super cheap GS430 thats got 250k Miles on it.
I have not driven it yet but the guy says it runs, does not consume fluids and has 250k miles. He adds at the end that the transmission wont go into gear "mechanics special"
Obviously I usually ignore ads that say mechanics whatever but I have heard these cars can run for a long time given the proper TLC, is there common transmission issues that would be easy to fix on these particularly this one that would maybe make this worth looking at.
I am in great need of a new reliable daily driver my previous lexus ES was 210k miles before it got totaled in a rear end accident.
Any insight or tips on when/how to look at and buy a GS430

Edit: I am also just debating waiting for this car or looking at a different Lexus since most of the GS430s I can find right now are 120K+ Miles for around 6-12k there's a couple 180k+ for cheaper like 4-6k but still seems steep for such an old and high mileage vehicle

I would skip. 2GS' may be reliable but they do have their flaws. At 250k miles it seems quite plausible the transmission is at the end of its lifespan. And, if you would put another transmission in it, the engine is getting up there, too. As for the pricing, GS430's are expensive and for the price some of those people are asking, you could get yourself an early model IS350/IS250, a lower mileage LS400, or even an LS430 if you're lucky.

Thats the problem I have, I really would like the V8 and just looking here the first listing I see for an IS350 is 270k Mile 2005 for 7k vs the 250k mile GS430 for 2k lol
I am thinking I am just gonna do some frankestein projects on my other car in the mean time hopefully I can daily it long enough for me to obtain another lexus daily lol

Edit: Guy texted me back as well and said the GS430 does not move under its own power so I am probably just gonna skip it

It is best to skip such a high mileage car, so I think you made the right call. Good luck, you're gonna need it in this market!

What is super cheap?
Problem could be a simple shift lock issue.
I would go look at it cash in hand...

I just edited my signature to show my current mileages; 345,000 on the GS

If your set on a car like this and it’s in your budget, just plan on the worst and budget a few hundred for a junkyard trans, and go see how everything else on the car is. In 20 years of driving the best deals I have gotten on cars is when the seller doesn’t know about cars and just wants it outta their driveway. You have to be cautious because there is certainly no shortage of people willing to tell a story that it just needs a little love to get it going again, and hoping you overlook all the problems he didn’t mention. So just my 2 cents, definitely give the whole car a inspection and assume the worst and maybe it’s a rear end or something that is cheap and it’s a steal?
