Dam thing won't start.

Can anyone tell me if my 2jzgte need a programmable ECU just to start it for the first time after build. What I have changed. 67 mm single garret turbo. Ported n polished intakes. After market intake with top feed fuel rail and 1050 cc injectors. A set of mild cams. Ported and flowed the oil pump. Fuel cell with 10 AN feed line and 8 AN return. AREOMOTIVE fuel pump and regulator. It almost starts but it just refuses to run. Someone told me it will never start with the stock ECU. IS THIS TRUE AM I WAISTING MY TIME TRYING TO GET IT STARTED.. ANY IMFORMATION OR ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Welcome to Club Lexus.

Going to move this to the 2-GS section.

Your car looks nice and clean. Are you trying to start it with an Aristo ECU? If so, and if it is indeed an immobilizer-enabled ECU without the accommodating keys, you will not be able to start it. You'll want to locate an non-immobilized Aristo ECU or you will have to talk to a locksmith or Lexus about a possibility of linking your keys to the immobilized ECU you have.

Agreed^^^

But if you are on stock GS300 ecu and key, I'd start with double checking the fuel system and get a pressure reading. You did a lot of fuel system mods at once and it's easy to have made a mistake somewhere. Another thought, those injectors are huge and maybe you are dumping too much fuel straight into the cylinders fouling the plugs out? If you have a scanner handy, look for rpm signal etc. On that note.. if you are on stock GS ECU and running a GTE throttle, I don't think that the car would run.. I'm sure there would be too much missing information for the computer. I don't have an answer for you, just some logical things to consider off the top of my head.

It's the aristo ECU and it is set and ready for my keys. It coughs pops and almost runs but won't. Pull a plug and it is geting fuel. 43 psi fuel pressure

You're trying to run 1050cc injectors and a 67mm turbo with a stock map?

G3SLEEPER Aug 3, 2019 04:48 PM

So give it up. Don't WAISTE any more time trying to start it. Just wait for series 2 AEM PLUG AND PLAY. Dang I just wanted to.hear it run before I by AT out another 2 Gs. Oh well thanx for your input. Does anyone know of a good runner in the Orange county area for my 2jz. Can't seem to locate one. Once again thanx I won't WAISTE anymore time trying to start this motor.

I mean, yeah. Management [of air, fuel, and ignition] is a pretty key part of taking drastically more air and fuel. You don't have to bin the whole project, but you do need to complete the process with an appropriate engine management system.

My turbo going in in a couple weeks is 67mm also and I will be doing 550cc injectors with it. I'll let you know if it starts right up for me before tuning. I'm using the AFC Neo for reference. You must have some big numbers planned for the size of injectors you chose. But a 67mm will top out at around 500hp from what I understand. I think your injectors are too big honestly. But hopefully with proper tuning they will work for you. People have achieved the 500hp mark with injectors half your size is all I'm saying. You might still need to change them.

https://www.deatschwerks.com/fuel-ca...tor-calculator If you use this injector size calculator you'll see for 500 crank hp, with forced induction and 6 cyl, to achieve an 80% duty cycle, exactly 550cc is recommended.

YA I'm looking for a bit more hp than 500. I'm POSDIBLY going to go with methonal injection..that is after I get a ECU

I don't think a 67 mm turbo is limited to 500 hp. When I chose the turbo I told gartot what kind of hp I was looking for and they suggested the 67 mm. Type of 67 mm turbo and manifold can make the difference between night n day. This is where quality comes into play. At least that's my opininion..u can get a 67 mm turbo for 300 bucks or u can spend upwards of 5 gs. I don't think u can cap out a 67 mm at 500 horsies.

You should be over 500 whp at near 20psi. Boost in the teens for over 500 bhp, easily. Timing will be key, so again, you need an engine management system in place.

How much power did you think you would get? Have you not looked at other 2JZ builds with 67mm turbos and 1000ish cc injectors?

YA I did a hell of a lot or research before I purchased every part. I have seen motors get 800.to 1000hp with 67 mm turbos. Bit that's a bit to much for the street in my opinion. I'm hoping for round 700 hp give or take. I took some precautions new head gasket surfaced the heady ARP stud kit. Set of 1000 dollar billet cams and springs to a little extra pow. They say porting n POLISHING the intakes doesn't help on a booated motor. But I ported and polished the intakes as smooth as a babys but and smoothed out the exauat portes also. Just for ****s n giggles I had a 3000 stall converter made from my stock converter just to watch this tranny explode off take off before I put something strong enough for the build. I'm thinking out of the box and might go with. A 700 R tranny some of them are guaranteed for 650 hp. Shifting is a pain in the ass. So if I can get 4 gears rather than three and a hefty stall converter t think that would be the ****.
