Hey Guys what color is the STOCK front Grill around the Lexxus Logo on 1998 GS 400, is it BLACK or SILVER, mine seems to be either BLACK with chipping off black paint which leaves a SILVER under it, or SIVLER covered in tons of road grime and tar making them all BLACK.....

It's a very dark gray over chromed plastic.

There is a thread somewhere on here to strip it and make it completely chrome plastic

Just sand it down, shoot it with a metallic dark grey base coat followed back a coat or two of gloss clear. Done.

But be careful about removing the grill first. Those tabs are flimsy and tend to break when you try to remove the bolts. I just tapped around my grill first.

Yeah makes no sense to make it CHROME lol, like why cover it in grey road dust, and why dark grey instead of BLACK? It it because its so filthy on the front that dark grey never looks dirty? Maybe was chrome then they said hell lets just make it dirt color lol?
