02 GS300 - coilovers?
I believe my struts are going out and found a set of four coilovers that are less than replacing the struts through auto zone. What are your thoughts and or opinions of coilovers? I'm looking for a smooth ride over sport. Link to what I found:

I am running the Tein street base z set. They feel great and are an enjoyable performance upgrade. You will have to transfer the upper mounts from the oem struts for these. But to answer your question, they are still comfortable even around a 2" drop in ride height. An alignment is a must if you go this route.

No, the entire removal is rather straight forward. No special tools outside of a spring compressor so you don't get whacked by the spring flying off. I am also running Street Basis Z's and the ride is firm, you'll definitely feel the road a lot more but if you aren't lowering excessively you'll find them to be quite enjoyable, still a good amount of cushion.

I live in MN and after winter is pothole season. I bought the car last September (before winter) and don't remember the ride being this rough. Thoughts on other things to replace or lube?

You should take it for an alignment after any suspension changes, Your alignment will most likely be out of spec if you lower it too much. They'll get it to drive straight but you'll have some increased wear. If you haven't already inspect both upper and lower boots of the balljoints.
