Default P0010 Issue!

As the title states, I have a new to me 03 gs300. Has a P0010 code popping up. Checked the VVTI solenoid and it's fine. Replaced it's little filter as well. Oil looks new in the car and it's giving me a little knock noise. Any ideas as to what it could be or what could help fix it?

How did you check the solenoid?

Jumped it to a 12v and heard it opening and closing

That doesn't mean it's resistance is in spec. Or that it's not getting stuck in a position. I've seen sludgy and clean engines have that happen. It must open and close the right amount and precisely when commanded. Normal Ohms readings are usually around 12-18 ohms on this sort of solenoid. But I'm not exactly sure on this one. Find the spec and check resistance. And verify you are getting power and ground to it. I'm sure you have verified oil level as that is the leading cause for this kind of solenoid to act up. It's oil controlled obviously. I'm sure you know that, just making sure to cover all the basics.

Well unfortunately it was worse case scenario. Rod knock. Time to build it I guess
