1999 Gs400 shut off possible security issue?
A few weeks back I was dealing with a starting issue I assumed had to do with the key.
I got that sorted and the car started perfectly fine. Since then I’ve started it periodically. Today I my other car went down and I needed to drive my Gs400 and when I started it to warm it up it just died all of a sudden. After it shut off i tried to start it but got nothing. Tried again and the car wasn’t even on as if it didn’t have a battery. The security light is off completely. And I’m not sure what is going on. I looked before I made this but nothing seemed to match up to what I’m getting. Before the car wouldn’t start but the security light would continue to blink indicating there was a problem with the key. Now it’s not on at all so I don’t know what happened.

How many miles are on the vehicle? If it starts that would rule out your battery although your alternator might not be charging it. Any auto store can check your charging system for free. However, since you mentioned it ran ok for 5 minutes that sounds like a fuel issue, maybe it's not getting the right pressure.

First step is to check your battery and charging system. The battery should read 12.5v+ at rest. Start the car and the charging system should read 14v or so. You can pick up a cheap multimeter for $10 (see below). Which light is blinking, the battery light or check engine light?
