Default 98 GS400 148k Selling advice

Here's what I've got:

1998 GS400 148K
Salvage title. First owner drove through high enough water that the engine ingested it and crapped out the engine. New engine installed at 40K.
Timing belt done at 140k.
Hail damage.
Runs great. It's a blast to drive.
Daughter needs a car with better gas mileage for her long commute to school.
It's time to part with this car that's been so good to us. I'd love to just keep it since it's paid for, runs great and is fun to drive but I don't have driveway space or anybody that needs to use it. It would be a great daily driver for a high school dude who wants a luxurious, fast and fun car.

Upgrades: Remote start, Satellite radio.

What's it worth?
How should I sell it? Craigslist, eBay or other?
I'm in the DFW area if anybody on here who actually appreciates these amazing cars is interested.

Thanks for you advice.

Yea, give a high school dude a V8 rwd luxury sports sedan.... what would possibly go wrong...?!

All depends upon region. Here in Metro Detroit... Maybe $2500-$3000?

Suspect CA/TX/FL will get a much better price, with the anticipated better paint/corrosion and underbody condition.

With that kinda title, age, other typical allilments that are typical for the car and no pics... I’d say take the first $1,500 offer you get.

Ouch... missed the salvage-title, thanks. Yet with the fresh timing belt, I'm going to disagree... you should still get $2000-$2500, at least.

To sell, I'd say CL. Remove the remote-start, if possible... they usually cause issues down the line. And when you say satellite radio, was that an add-on, or a head-unit replacement?

Also, I don't see a mention of IP lights... check-engine, ABS, VSV, etc.

If the car really has a documented timing-belt job, that's $250 in parts, or $1k at a shop... and is good for 60k-100k miles. If the interior is in good shape, paint is good, no dash lights, decent tires/brakes, documented recent timing belt, etc... that's someone buying a luxury sports sedan that'll last 4-5yrs, with minimal maintenance issues. Still think that'll bring a decent price, in the south.

I appreciate the advice.

I've driven it less than 10k since the timing belt job that I had done at a local shop.

The SAT radio was installed by a shop like Car Toys and is an external device clipped to the AC vent but professionally routed wiring behind the dash. It's played through the FM radio.

What are IP lights? There are no warning lights that have indicated such as check engine, ABS or VSV.

The interior is in good shape (no cracked leather).

Paint is good but it has hail dents.

Electroluminescent back lighting is still working well on speedometer etc...

Tires are in good shape with about 10k on them.

It'll test drive well with the exception of a steering wheel vibration at 60 mph. Might be wheel balancing or could be something else.

Automatic locks are hit and miss on the drivers door and rear passenger side.

Needs to have rear light lenses replaced as they have faded from red to clear.

Whomever buys this car is going to have a fun and reliable luxury sports sedan.

I'll post some pics to give an idea of the condition before I post it on CL.

Thanks for the feedback.

Being realistic, I agree with the $1500. Salvage title and hail damage would be a big no-no for me. Even more so if there are other GS's in your area with clean titles. Don't forget it is a 21 year old car, regardless of mileage.

I bought my 99 GS400 for $1500 4 months ago, there were others in my area selling for $3000+ at the time that still haven't sold today.

IP = Instrument Panel.
60mph wheel shake is usually balance or brakes. Rotate the front/rear wheels, if it continues, probably rotors.
