Default Oil leak and butterfly valve questions

Recently did a pretty good engine refresh to stop all of my old oil leaks and most of them stopped except for my most irritating one. Did the cam seals on intake and exhaust side and valve cover gasket to fix it but somehow it still leaks. Did I miss something? Here is some pictures where the oil is collecting, can't tell where it's coming from.

I also have this horrible turbo rattle sound when I accelerate hard, found this was making quite a bit a noise and it is a common problem. Would the butterfly valve make a kind of turbulence/clicking sound? Noise is coming from here

Thanks to anyone that can help

I am 99.99% sure that's the VVTi cam gear o-ring leak. Had the same leak about a year ago and the oil ends up in the same places in your pictures. You can do a test to be 100% sure. With the cover off, put a card board on top of the cam gears and rev your engine. If the VVTi cam gear o-ring is leaking, you will see a line across the card board. It's an easy and cheap fix, just take some time and patience. There are plenty of Youtube videos on how to fix this issue, just search for VVTi cam gear o-ring leak.

That is one thing I didn't replace, I'll take a look sometime and see if that's the problem. I appreciate the help!

Yes, that is your VVtI cam gear leaking. You can have it rebuilt or get a new one. Powerdynamix.com out in Texas rebuilds them, or you can do it yourself if you order the seals from them.

Thanks, and I should just be able to take off the 10mm's and press a new seal in right? I saw that's how most people did it but I definetly want to do it the right way

Look for the rebuild videos of the vvti gears on Youtube, they have to be dissembled and put back precisely as they are lasered a certain way. Precise alignment is critical when reassembling them, be sure to do you homework.

Agree on the vvti, replace the seal and should be good. you can do it with the cam gear on the car still. but with that much oil in there, I'd advise changing your timing belt again.

The butterfly is there for fuel economy. if it's making noises then you should take the y section off and inspect it. Someone had reported the butterfly coming off and lodging in the intake runner causing all kinds of hell.
