I had a further thought on this, what could also occur is your instruments will be either always low or always high, if so, we may need to change the voltage on one of these 3 wires.

The best thing to do is disconnect one of these wires in turn and see if it has your desired effect. Failing that measure the voltage on each of these wires during daylight and night.

This light sensor could also control DLR lights and as above the night settings on factory nav.

Alternative:
You could simply pull out the light sensor and glue a 12V 1W bulb to the sensor if you want the instruments always bright, or cover it with black insulation tape for always dark.!

I have not heard anything since, maybe my suggestion scared golfkid777 from playing with his wiring loom.

This is not a quick fix as your are trying to fool your GS's sensors.
For example if you set your lights to Auto and drive into a tunnel, it does take 2-5 seconds for your GS to realise ''oh ****, I am in a dark place, I better turn on the lights (as I am in auto mode) and I better dip the clocks.....''

PS If you think you are being ripped off for car prices look here and scare yourself at the price of GS's in Ireland (€1000~$1300, ADD 30% to each price for USD!!! so every €10k=$13k):
http://www.usedcars.ie/usedcars/inde...nd+cars+%3E%3E

The cheapest NEW 07 basic GS300 is $85.000

Slightly off topic but,
How about paying €98,000~$127,000 for the top of the range GS430 (minus options)!!!?http://www.carzone.ie/newcars/index....ecs=SSCIRL2002
AND
http://www.lexus.ie/lexus_cars/gs/gs...gs_pricing.asp

DONT FORGET €1 = $1.30!

"Playing with Wiring Loom", heck I'd be scared off too.
That diagram in an earlier post was alien to me. I did print it out so that my father could take a look at it and see if he could make it out.

Well I will be attempting to play with it here very soon. I have been very busy with work lately and was hoping that this car wouldnt become the project that my last GTI did. I am fairly in touch with the wiring harnesses in VWs and have fully shaved a few engine bays and custom rewired the engines. I have a couple of other electrical guys I know looking at the wiring diagram to see if they can provide some further insight before I dive in. Probably not this weekend as its the superbowl and midterms are monday and teusday, but hopefully next weekend I can get this sorted out and maybe put together a full DIY if it works at all.

Have you seen how bright your clocks will be at night?

You will be blinded as it is TOO bright.

To test get a pen torch and light up the sensor when you are night driving. I will never do this mod.

I cant even see how fast I am gonig at night without taking my eyes off the road and leaning towards the cluster, my gauges dim so much. If i have to remove the clock, I will but I want to know how fast I am gonig at night.

Maybe your clocks backlight is faulty.

In daylight and the brightness **** turned up full, are your clocks 'eye-popping' bright?

No they are not eye popping, they are the same brightness as my Pioneer DVD player, and at night they look like a glow in the dark sticker. When i drive in a tunnel during the day they dim to the point where they are barely visible, and the contrast between oncoming headlights and the dimness of the gauges makes it hard to see how fast I am going at night.

Default Anyone Know How To Convert Climate Control?

Mine reads Celsius, I would like to have one that reads in Fahrenheit. I swaped out the climate control unit, but it still reads C. (ML Audio, No Nav)
I have posted this elswhere, but I thought maybe someone here had done this.
Thanks
Bill

I know on some cars there is either a tiny toggle switch or it needs a solder blob added/removed on the A/C PCB to convert from C <-> F.

I am not sure on the GS2. There is one easyish way to find out, open it and see!

I have a spare climate control unit that was removed from what I assume to be a US car, when I installed it, it still read "C" which leads me to assume that it's getting it's information from somewhere else, I just don't know where.
Have any ideas?
Thanks
Bill
