If it does, there is something defective.

Opening with the master key manually or via the remote will STILL work.
Damn, I forgot about that! I've been passing up Valet parking for 3 years because I didnt want my goods stolen!

Just performed the subwoofer mod on my 99 with navigation. After getting in the navigation service menu as described earlier, letting it go through self check, pressing the button for menu, I held down the AM button for about five seconds and got into the Audio menu. Then I just followed the recommended settings. Thanks for the tip!

Hmm...? I must have missed this post. Can you refer me to the post that shows you how to do it with the stock navigation system?

there are several threads regarding it......

Here is the quick and dirty;
With the car off, put the key in the ignition, turn to ON, hold the climate and Audio buttons and turn the parking lights on and off 3-4 times.

The diagnostics screen should appear. Then follow my directions above....

I did as you mentioned, and I got in.

I can go through "P1, P2, L" and "F, R, W".

Can you tell me the settings for each if you have time? This thread is getting rather cluttered for me to search.

Btw - it seems as though there isn't a limit as to how high I can set it. I keep on upping it and I'm already at 120 and gave up.

Dude - where do you think I found the settings? I took the time to read the entire thread....

Anyways, I am a nice guy, so here is the one that I found the most helpful....

hen the Audio screen will come up and you push the tape to get to the F, R, and L settings and the FM to Get to the P1, P2 and W setting you must go to the Audio screen and then turn off the car for the settings to work, put F and R on 5 to 7, 7 for more bass and then P1 to 3 and you will notice a BIG difference. You adjust the number by the up down controll on the side.

I adjusted it, turned off car, turned back to play a cd and hear the difference, adjusted again, tested with cd... until I got it where I liked it.

Good Luck
