P1755 MIL 98 GS300 - transmission - which solenoid?

Hi, I have a 98 GS300 with 247k miles. It has very hard shift from first gear to second and shudders when breaking to come to a stop, when cold. Once check engine light comes on with P1755 shifting is ok, without problem. I had the ECU tested, repaired. There are several solenoids - how do I know if I need to replace SLU or SLT? There is conflicting info. I believe SLU is the one to be replaced. Can someone confirm with part number?

Also - as check engine light is on with P1755 and car runs fine - this P1755 is not emissions related - would I be able to pass inspection in NJ?

Many thanks

Solenoid SLU Lock Up Control. Does it say Solenoid E on your code reader by chance?

should be 35280-30040

P1755 code

I just repaired this issue on my 99 GS300. It was not the lockup solenoid. It was the computer on mine. There is a test procedure to check the solenoid before spending 200 bucks on a part that might not fix the problem. You have to drop the transmission pan to check the solenoid and wiring harness in there. The resistance of the solenoid should be around 5.0-5.6 ohms. If the solenoid ohms out ok, the problem is most likely the computer. I found a reman ecu for 150 bucks, programmed my keys, and the problem was gone.

Me too... Same thing on 98 lexus gs300 same code. I change the solenoid the transmission. Fluids change. I down to the ecu or the harness inside transmission

Are there any break down steps for fixing the P1755 code

Looking for a break down of the steps with pics needed to test the Solenoid and replacing it?
