Yellow Fog Light Help ('98 GS400)
Hi all,
I recently purchased a 1998 GS400 and I wanted to get the OG yellow look on the fog lights.
I have searched up and down on the forums and to my understanding, I just need the HID fog light bulb to get that yellow look...? If so, I have come across these bulbs on eBay...https://www.ebay.com/itm/98-05-LEXUS...tatf~s&vxp=mtr & https://www.ebay.com/itm/98-05-LEXUS...patf3i&vxp=mtr
I am just confused because people are mentioning a capsule? Is that capsule the fog light as a whole? So would they be plug and play?
...just a little confused. if someone could help me out, I would greatly appreciate that.
Regards,
Huss

The JDM foglight housings have a yellow tinted glass capsule that surrounds the bulb and tints it yellow. US fogs don't have this. You could get the yellow HID kit but you won't need those yellow housings you posted. Unless you just want them. You could also get some yellow vinyl tint and put that on your stock housings.
There are also yellow incandescent bulbs out there if you don't want HIDs.
I now use amber LED bulbs for my fogs because i just like the look better than HIDs (which tend to look green to me) or incandescent (which have blown out on me multiple times in other cars). They also match the other amber LEDs I have installed.

Hey n1ck...thanks for your quick reply and pictures, sir!
I saw the look you had on the first picture and I really like that tone of yellow. Is that when you just put the incandescent bulbs in place...?
Thanks again for the reply n1ck,
Huss

I replaced the stock 9006 fog light bulbs with amber incandescent bulbs. They look like n1ck's first photo. They're okay for now. I may do something different when I get an HID retrofit.

i did a fog light retro and then put yellow tint overlay since i had to break the yellow capsule to do the foglight retro

Yellow fog light housings were an option. My GS400 doesn't have them. I don't remember which option package they were part of (my guess is probably whichever one included HIDs), but they weren't standard.

Thanks for calling me wrong though. I just bought a 1998 GS sales brochure out of spite.
