Are these two sensors the same?

Squashing the last few gremlins on the new motor.
Can't get the shift indicator lights on the dash to work and the car won't shift out of park unless I depress the override. I replaced the shifter and linkage as the neutral safety switch as well.

A friend suggested that the speed sensors on the tranny might be the culprit. I ordered one (the one near the front of the trans but not sure if the one at the tail is the same. Anyone know?

Any general hints/tips would be appreciated.https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...8f62eb6d09.jpg

Books say they're the same:

Thanks. The issue was the positioning of the neutral safety switch. That thing's really sensitive. As I rotated it slightly while wifey sat in the car, I could here the tranny "click". Once I knew the gear associated with each adjustment of the nsw, I tightened the bolt down and was done.

Good going...
And a big thank you for posting your resolution along with posting a killer picture of your swap in progress.

If you didn't mind me asking, what happened to the original motor and where did you source the new motor?

I had tried my hand at doing my timing belt and forgot to using sealer on the water pump so it started leaking big time afterwards. Otherwise, though it had almost 300k miles on it, the motor ran fine. I just didn't feel like dealing with a water pump again and lucked up on a 100k GS4 motor; actually two of them (go figure). Swapping a motor was always on my bucket list. It's a fun project... as long as its not your daily driver. Here's the finished install. Just about done.https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...8ad17a551b.jpg
