DUMB QUESTION:
MY CAR IS CURRENTLY BEING PAINTED A CUSTOM COLOR.......I WANTED TO PAINT THE ENGINE COVER AND INTAKE(SRT W/HEAT SHEILD) BATTERY COVER ETC. WITH THE MATCHING COLOR, BUT THE PAINT SHOP THINKS THE PAINT WON'T STAY ON DUE TO HEAT IN THE ENGINE BAY.I HAVE SEEN SO MANY CARS ON THIS SITE WITH THOSE PIECES PAINTED AND LOOKING NICE...........IS THERE A SPECIAL PROCESS TO MAKE IT ADHERE BETTER IN HIGH HEAT SITUATIONS? .........OR THE BODY SHOP I'M DEALING WITH HAVE JUST NOT DONE THIS BEFORE...........PLEASE HELP!
THANX IN ADVANCE

Sean,

I used the search feature on ClubLexus and found a some threads of members who have painted several engine pieces (I always suggest the search feature to new members, it's very powerful way to get an answer w/o even asking the question).

I suggest you use the private message feature to ask them about it if they do not reply here.

BlueLex already replied...

I believe Mrsypher has painted engine components. Edit, yep here's a pic

GS4fun did (not sure if this is the same car he currently has)

I used high temp engine paint and high temp clearcoat to do my SRT intake to match the TRD stb. Probably not what you're trying to do w/ matching everything inside yours up, but I've got no concerns with heat issues that way either.

Angry Damn!

I also had my gs 4 painted underneth the hood but my bodyshop made a mistake when they painted my engine cover. They painted the Lexus emblem blue as well and I was fuming at the time when I seen it and still am every time I do see it. Is there anyway to make the Lexus emblem back to chrome? Other than that you should have no problems with the paint getting faded or getting messed up from the heat.
