I ended up buying a Silver/Black '01 GS300 yesterday. It's got 169k miles but the dealer I picked it up from just did a whole bunch of stuff to it and I hope this one has at least another 50k to go. These are just a few things I can remember off the top of my head that the dealer replaced but I also got all of the receipts from them: Timing belt, water pump, tensioner, serpentine belt, idler pulley, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs & wires, upper/lower control arms on both sides, ball joints, rear brake pads (fronts were good), pcv valve, hood struts, air door actuator, ABS speed sensor, battery, 4 new tires. I ended up getting it for $5,500 which I thought was pretty decent with all of the work that they just did to it.

I spent all evening at the dealer last night and then tonight I did a pretty good detail on the interior as well as washed it so I haven't had time to really take any pictures but i plan to soon.

I do have a couple little things to still address with the biggest one being the door actuators on the passenger side that are not working. I might go ahead and just replace all four motors but I'll just have to see how bad of an install it is. I also have a new JVC double DIN stereo and some front/rear speakers on their way. Other than that it's just a couple little things like some rear brake light bulbs, shifter slide cover, removal of the trailer hitch, and maybe the weather stripping on one of the doors.

Nice color combination, it will serve you well if taken care of. Focus on the other maintenance items and mod as you go.

It's a small hitch so I'm assuming they were transporting bicycles or something? Either way, I won't be so it's coming off.

 

It's got a lot more than 50k left, trust me! I helped my brother-in-law purchase a one-owner 1998 GS300 with 282,000 miles back in March, and right now he's got 288,000 miles. I saw him the other day and he said the car is amazing, they are getting ready to take it to the beach. Personally, I have a 1999 GS400 with 225,000 miles and it's in mint condition. It's my daily driver and if I ever have a problem (not that I've had many) it is fixed the next week. I've had this car since 1999 and it is not for sale, ever!

I think you got a steal with all of the work that was recently done on it. Here is a pic of my brother-in-laws car, why buy new when these cars run just as good?

I agree, my daily is an '05 LS430 which I bought with 111k miles for $10,500 (it came with the sticker that listed for $67k). I did have to put a little work into it for things like the door lock actuators but I didn't do much. The car drives perfect. I also had an '04 LS430 for a couple years that I bought with 112k and had 135k when it was totaled. I ran great and I didn't do anything more than oil changes and spark plugs. My current LS should go a long time but I'll probably step up to a used LS460 when the 2010+ get down into the mid-teens for prices.

The GS300 I picked up for my 16 yr old son. He doesn't have his full license yet so I'll be driving it once or twice a week until then. I'm also making him learn how to maintain a car. We are starting off with simple things like checking oil and tire pressure as well as wash and waxing the car. He will also be my right hand man when we work on the door lock actuators and the stereo/speaker install. It's a nice first car for a 16 yr old but I plan for him to keep it through college. Actually, I'm hoping it's the only one I have to pay for out of my pocket.

 

Finally got a picture of all the stuff parts boxes the dealer left behind to show what they did. This is what it looked like when I opened the trunk at the dealer. I still haven't taken any good pictures of the car and right now it's out of commission waiting on some door lock actuators to come in and I also want to get the stereo in as well. Hopefully it will all get wrapped up this weekend.

 

Psh, you guys and your low mileage cars, haha. Congrats on the purchase, she should have a ton of life left in her as you are about half my mileage.
