Stop, VSC, VSC Off, ABS; Speedometer not working - GS300 mk ii 2002
Hello, I have a problem with my Lexus GS300 MK II 2002. A month ago I left the light on inside of my car and the next day I could not start the engine. The battery was already several years old and I decided to replace it with a new one. I replaced it with a new one with the same parameters. The next day while driving, the VSC VSC OFF ABS STOP lights. The speedometer stopped working and was blinking 0kmh while driving. I stopped the car. I restarted the engine - all right - no light is on, the speedometer is working normally.
After 30 km, again the speedometer did not work and the VSC ABS lights went on. Restart engine - everything went back to normal.
The next few dozen kilometers - the error comes back. After restart - everythink ok.
A year ago I had the same error - the battery packs were badly twisted.
I twisted and the malfunction disappeared.
Now I checked but battery wires is fix ok.
I connected the car several times to the TEXA and LM computer - it does not show any errors.
Does anyone have an idea of what the problem is?
Thanks for any sugestions !!

Get your car checked to see if the alternator is going out. On my old gs400 i was getting those lights on because the power was getting weak due to a bad alternator. Sears ran a voltage check and proved it was running low voltage.

Thank You for Your answer. I just checked it and think the alternator is ok - the voltage on standby is 12,5V and 14,3V on running engine with heater on.

Dutchjzs16 - Your speedometer is working fine but You have only this light? Do the zero point calibration- it can fix Your problem.

It could be one of your wheel speed sensors. Does you engine and trans get affected when this happens?
You really need to get a scantool that is able to see the codes for the ABS / VSC ecu's. There will definitely be codes there if the lights are showing up.

Hello vijayn
The engine and trans are not affected when the lights are up
I an not able two get a scantool to see the codes for the ABS / VSC ecu's.
its not every day day the lights go on and when they do my local Toyota dealer is closed.
are you thinking one of these sensors is getting bad?

Yes thats the one.
There are times when, the codes are stored in the ecu even though the lights are not showing anymore. Just give Lexus a call and see if they can scan history codes.
To get the lights to get back on, try the wiggle test on all components that are associated with ABS / VSC like the speed sensors, brake pedal switch and brake fluid switch and also check brake fluid level.

Hello vijay
the lights do not light up four five days now.
the brake fluid level is okay.
I will try to visit my local Toyota dealer.
Hopefully they can scan and locate the problem.
(the Lexus dealer is a one hour drive)
thanks for your input
