You may be looking at a new TRANSPONDER KEY COIL ... This is the Part Number: 8978230010 that I came up with, at Under $30. And straight forward replacement...
It might be worth getting a proper diagnoses to eliminate the guess work. Diagnostic Procedures
Here are the parts involved...

The immobilizer is inside the ECU. So if it starts giving u problems u need to change out the ECU and of course u have to program it to your key (Unless u find one that come with its key as well).
Had intermittent issues with mine, and had to change out a few things (new key transponder, key coil, key amplifier) and finally the ECU.

This link explains how generally how the Toyota / Lexus immobilizer system works. http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-...-or-Swapped-E/
Your issue is unlikely the ECU. The data storing the key info is unlikely to get corrupted.
If by moving the steering wheel and the issue goes away, I would check these 3 components. 1. key sense switch. 2. Transponder key coil. 3. Transponder key Amplifier.
