Recently purchased a 2002 GS430 with Factory installed Navigation. I wanted to update it as it was the original 2002 version. I purchased an upgrade CD on E-Bay and tried to run it ( no go). It read " Disk Error" and would not run. I tried to reinstall my OE Navigation CD and it will no longer run either. It gives me the same error message as the new one I purchased from E-Bay. Any thoughts on how I can get this updated and running again ?

Sounds like a dirty DVD or a failed DVD drive to me. You can purchase and install a Gen 4 DVD unit for a couple small upgrades over the Gen 2/3 unit you have now. They should be readily available and inexpensive now.

I should mention that I suspect the drive since it is very unlikely that both discs went bad at the same time.

And for clarification, Gen 2/3 and Gen 4 refer to the actual Navigation system and DVD drive located in the trunk of the car, not the disc. These cars were equipped with the Gen 2/3 from the factory many newer Toyota and Lexus models have the Gen 4 which is compatible and can be used as a light upgrade to the older 2/3 units. My 2002 GS430's DVD drive failed and I replaced it with the Gen 4. Read through Sakataj's thread below for more information, probably everything you need.
