Default Oil leak on my 99 GS300

I have a 99 GS300 with a 2JZ motor with 140k miles. I've begun to see a slight oil leak where the water pump's gasket is located. A friend of mine has a 2001 GS300 with the same issue. I've taken it to my mechanic and he said that a gasket would not fix the problem. Has anyone else had this problem, if so how did you fix it?

I have same car. Just had rear main seal replaced as there was oil leaking, dripping down the bell housing where it meets the motor.

When you had your timing belt done at 90K, did they replace the cam seals and valve cover gaskets?

I'm actually having my timing belt done now at 113k (just bought car a few months ago) and yes, replacing cam gear, seals and valve cover gasket. It's pretty tedious to get in there, so it's dumb not to replace everything while you're in there.
