GS300- hesitates from stop or slow turn
After stopping at a light, or slowing down for a turn, acceleration is delayed, sometimes dangerously, if crossing an intersection as it feels almost like a stall, but hesitates for 5-10 secs before kicking in, which can be deadly if there is fast moving oncoming traffic in lane being crossed. Does not feel like a tranny thing, more like an acceleration 'controller' issue (if there is such a thing.) No diag codes
Will shifting to "M" before accelerating possibly help? (I am not sure how the auto-trans works, or when/if to use it)
Thanks

Thanks. I have not checked the tach, I will next time I am out. What should I expect if it is a vacuum link? 800? 1000? Any idea where I would start looking for a leak? You say 'it might be something else', any idea what?
Thanks

My money is on the throttle body. Had the same issue on my is300. I wold take back roads because crossing main intersections was to risky for me. Brought my IS to my boys shop, switches out the throttle body, ran the ecu on the computer and calibrated the tps, etc. I can actually set off my trac control light off now when I accelerate to hard . Not really but you know what I mean.

Watch and see if it drops to 500 or below. As for vacuum leaks... Pretty hard to detect without a fogger. You can open the hood and listen for a hissing sound with car on. Some people have sprayed carb cleaner around the engine bay (section at a time) until they heard the car rev from the cleaner being sucked in. Or my favorite, grab a cigar and blow through a vacuum line while car is off and look for the smoke escaping.
For now, you can press your brake and and gas at the same time during your maneuvers to prevent it from dipping (if it is a vacuum issue)

Also check your air intake hose for leaks, usually on the bottom side close to the exhaust.
I had the same issue and mine was cracked. Once I replaced with a new unit, it was back to normal. It was a cheap fix, forgot the price.
Good luck!
