Default Driving home gauge lights came on, car died.

I was driving home and my touch screen started to act up, then the gauge lights below the cluster all came on. The car died 1 block from my house. I checked the fluid levels in the batter and the right side is low, but still no metal is exposed. ( I will fill it up tonight)

Isn't it if the alternator is going out this will happened? if the battery goes you can still drive since the alternator is making up for the lose of power?

It seems I keep going thru batteries every year. (yes I am getting cheap/less expensive batteries). Maybe the alternator is fine and the batteries just cant hold the charge and I just need to get a Optimum battery.

Seems like your altenator. when you have a cheap battery your altenator works harder. At this point u better off getting a lexus reman altenator and a battery. With this your performance overall will be like day and night. remember cheap is expensive. good luck pal.

When my alternator was going bad on my old car i was getting check engine, vsc lights on the dash. Sounds like the alternator could be bad.

Update. Got a brand new battery and put it in the car. It read 12.5 volts. Turn the car on 12.0 volts, then after a minute it went to 11.9. Alternator is dead. I will get another, but will rebuild this one for possible future use since the Denso are so good.

Got the new battery installed and put in the new alternator this weekend. Everything is charging as it should. Seem to shift a little better also, not sure if that has something to do with it.

Next I need to replace the power steering pump. Saw a couple drips on it and dont want it to ruin my new alternator.

Is it hard to replace the power steering pump? Seems like I would just need to drop the alternator again.
