Default Rims for 99 GS300

Will a 16 x 7, 5 lug rim fit a 99 GS300? Stock size is 16 x 7.5. Found a deal on some nice rims, but not sure if they'll fit as I don't know my way around wheels.

Those do look great for the price. I wouldn't be too concerned with the smaller width just because we aren't race cars. Two things I would check on are 1. Is the bolt pattern correct? 2. Check the offset and maybe use a spacer if you need it to get the proper stance.

Yes they will fit as long as the offset isn't too high.

It comes down to wheel design etc too.
I had a set of wheels that were 19 x 8 +36, but they hit the caliper. Factory IS wheels fit, and iirc they were 17 x 7+45 or 50 (something weak anyway).

You need a 5x114.3 lug pattern

I don't know why you'd want that garbage on your car, but as long as those have a 5x114.3 bolt pattern they will fit.

Offset isnt the only significant factor to consider when youre looking about brake clearance. You also have to consider the disk type of the wheel (Low disk vs, High disk). High disk type wheels will be able to clear bigger brakes.

But yeah those wheels are gonna look pretty ugly., sunken in and small on a GS

I bought my GS with brand new snow tires on the factory rims, which are flaking around the air valve. I figure I can get some rims and all season tires, and then in the fall just swap them out for winter. Given it's an 18 year old car, I don't want to spend a lot of money on rims. Any suggestions ?

If the OP has the stock calipers I wouldn't worry about disk type. Since they have stock wheels now I will bet they have stock calipers too.

Toyota calipers are chunky. My OEM Ford wheels wouldn't fit without a spacer, and they are 19x8+36

I would look for some ebay knock off wheels or craigslist, but I am a really cheap bastard when it comes to my GS.

Interesting, wheel design does play a huge role in clearance. Many of the Nissan Z guys have issues running the Enkei RPF1 wheels without spaces because of the spoke design even though they are racing wheels.
