my window/sunroof open via keyless remote function has been deactivated ('00 G4). Lexus dealership wants $70 to 'reset' the computer. I think that is too much to pay if all i have to do is turn the key in the ignition a couple times. anyone know how?

hehe...welcome...how did your feature get deactivated? that's interesting. but $70 isn't out of the ordinary it seems for dealers. when i asked they set my unlock button to unlock all the doors at once instead of just the driver's side, i came back and was charged $80. my friend had a similar story for a key fix of some sort.

and what do you mean, to turn the key in the ignition a couple of times?

 

i assume the previous owner had it deactivated for whatever reason.

i know that in some cases, performing a certian combination of tasks such as truning the key in the ignition a bunch of times and tapping the brake pedal can reset the computer. If that's all that the dealership is going to do and charge me $70, i would rather keep that money and do it myself!

 

I know that the only way to do it is to use hand-scanner to program C-BEST. As far as I know it is propriotary scanner that only Lexus dealers have.

 

Sounds like a CBEST setting, yes. And I think only the dealer can do those - no ignition or pedal actions.

No, we do that all the time (both to the car and to the remote when replacing the battery). It's something that either was requested to be programmed va CBEST by the original owner of the car or was programmed incorrectly.

How can I use my remote to close windows and suroof?

I can open them by holding the unlock key or inserting the key into the door
lock and turning it to the left and holding it in that position for a few seconds.

I can close windows and sunroof by inserting the key into the door
lock and turning it to the right and holding it in that position for a few seconds,
but when I hold the lock button on the remote it just goes into the panic mode.

Well.....

That is the only way to do it with the key.
