Default 2jzgte swap for 2003 gs300

ive been getting some mixed answer in reguards to swapping a 2jzgte into my 03 gs300 but have been told it cant be done or its alot of work. i would like to gather info here to better understand what is it that is alot of work or why cant it be done and yes i know there is a wiring change after 2002 models. Now here is what i have to work with my fully running 2003 gs300 and 2jzgte motor and trans with ecu i would alo like to keep my a/c system as well and would like to try to stay away from a stand alone since getting it tuned and well is a project on its own. thanks in advance fellas.

Well I'm not an expert on this topic but if you remember, the Aristo came equipped with the GTE from Toyota. So who ever is telling you it can't be done, obviously doesn't know wtf they're talking about.

Also, I own a 00 GS with the GTE swap.

yes i am very aware of the gte being factoery in the aristo but after 2001 there was a wiring change in the lexus gs models wich is why i am asking these question is you notice most if not all gte swapped gs tend to be pre 01 years.

I can't help you much at all besides saying that JZS161 goes up to 2003. I have an 01 for eg. You'd do yourself a favour to match the doner motor year with your chassis year.

There is at least one change in the wiring: my '01 has a factory immobiliser, my '97 doesn't.

It can certainly be done; I've done it. All the necessary wires are still there, but the ECU plugs are completely different and some of the pins on the body plugs shuffle around a little bit. Aristo ECU pinouts are all over the place, but the revised GS plugs aren't widely published. I ended up purchasing one of those 2 day Toyota Techinfo memberships to get a complete labelled wiring diagram to trace down the correct wires.

The JZS161 was 97-05 and the ecu wiring NEVER changed during the whole production run of the 161. The JZS160 got a wiring change in late 01 to 05 in both the USDM and JDM models. So all VVTI GTE engineset swaps will have the same wiring no matter what year 161 it is from. (outside of the immobilizer option, although less common on 97-00, more common on 01-05, but any year may or may not have it)

Any USDM 01-05 chassis will need the wiring adapted to any GTE swap, no matter what.

I found these off the net, they should help on the engine ECU side of things. I haven't verified them myself though. But you should be able to trace them and confirm if its correct since you have both ECU and loom versions now.

I've been searching for a while one here and google hoping to find some info on the 03 body harness and what all has to be changed to run the aritso ecu!
Did you get yours all sorted out?
If so, did you have to use an immobilized aristo ecu or non immobilized? I have seen the above posted ecu pin outs just not sure where to start swapping body harness pis to get everything working! I'm about ready to pull the stock 2j out and drop the gte in and would love your input ParkersDad! Any help is greatly appreciated

I swaped my 2001 gs300 ecm harness with a 2001 that was really a 2002 gs300 ecm harness and found 3 of the ecm connector was different. I see that the diagram shows some of the main data wires but what about the other wires? Since the connectors are different i have to move them over to old connector. Any suggestions would help thanks. I Was wondering if I get a 2002 gs300 ecm it would work but is the harness that runs from ecm to bcm connector the same on 2001 and 2002?
