Default 2UZ alternator fit on 1UZ?

Just thinking ahead in case I need to replace. I've got a working alt for a 2UZ kicking around in my garage. Will it bolt up to the 1UZ?

OP,
Try to call the dealer and ask if that 2 parts are the same or different? The part dept. tech can tell you if both part are different or the same.

I fully expect that I'd get the textbook "obviously not, they're different cars" answer but from all my googling both alternators look identical, same plug and case bolts and everything.

As per Lexus diagrams, none of the part numbers are the same. The 2UZ is 130amps, and the 1UZ is 100amps. Also, the 2UZ casing has three mouting holes, where as the 1UZ only has two. The casings look very similar, and even the third mounting hole looks like it was just added on top of the 1UZ design, so it might fit, but that third mount would not be used. I can probably verify this for you when I have both side by side next week.

Totally doable to grind off the extra mount and swap pulleys if needed. This may be the next hot mod.

The 2UZ alt works but you have to change have to change the plug.
