It was a plug n play. There had to be some other wiring to do though for the paddle shifters. My friend did all the wiring on the wheel at his house; Nothing was done at my house except for the detonator swap, install and plug in.

The ISF wheel is cool but I think that might look too modern IMO for the 2nd gen GS.
You guys are awesome! major props to you guys for venturing and doing this mod. I was thinking about this compatibility lately also but didn't want to risk the expense of trial and error. I'm really tempted to hop on this now.

Rock-a-Lex, So awesome seeing someone else doing this mod, it is looking good!!!

(you might already be aware, but if not, I notice you don't have phone controls on your IS wheel, there are two different control modules available for the right hand side, there is the one you have with 'display' only and the other one has the Phone controls on it, you can find them on ebay and simply swap the right side buttons out on your IS wheel to gain functional Phone controls once you add the double din deck to your car that you mentioned you were going to be doing. Just throwing that out there.)

------------------

I did this swap back in 2014 and the steering wheel base where the tabs engage into the clock spring don't fit into the spacer inside the GS clockspring. The IS splined base is much smaller than the GS wheel, so I made an aluminum adapter on a lathe that the engages the tabs on the wheel and then inserts into the clock spring. What did you guys do for this issue, or are you just letting the plastic back cover on the wheel push against the connectors at the top of the clock spring to turn it?

To the guys asking about the Radio, I have the Phone and Radio buttons working using a PAC SWI to make all the buttons work an aftermarket deck (the IS250 steering wheel and clockspring has like 14 wires going through it's clock spring as the stock radio was using individual wires for each function, the PAC consolidates the individual buttons wires using resistors to differentiate the functions and program them as triggers into the PAC module to then send the signal to an aftermarket deck) The IS250 buttons don't work the stock GS radio, but with a PAC module it will control an aftermarket deck that has a minijack steering wheel remote input, I am using a Pioneer double din, but would work on all modern Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer, etc double din units.

My car is a manual so the Paddles are wired to the EMS for activating Overboost and 2-Step.

I used a modified Camry clockspring because my GS one did not have enough wires going through it to carry all the functions I needed.

My 99 GS single stage airbag igniter did not fit the IS250 wheel. It was the 'big bolt pattern' style. I used a Prius single stage igniter that is the 'small bolt pattern'.

Overall it really improves the look and feel of the interior and having functioning Phone/Radio controls are one of the best additions to bringing the car more up to date.

Ahhh and there in lies the key...
So I take it the Camry clock spring fits and is compatible with the GS Steering shaft/steering sensor. Kool.
What year Camry clock spring did you use?
What did you modify on the clockspring?
what do you think of using the AWSC-1 instead of the interface you used? I will be using the radio/Phone controls from an 06 SC retrofitted onto a GS steering wheel. All the wires line up except for one.
You wouldn't have happened to have created a write up on what you did, did you? ..lol

Hi all. I don't really know the particulars on how it was wired only know that the IS steering wheel connector was swapped with the GS one, then it was plug n play from there. But, there were a series of resistors needed to make the paddles work.

FYI, the 2000 GS is the first year this works with. '98 and '99s have a hexagonal shape for the airbag...no good.

If you're serious and interested my friend can do this for you for a fee; PM me for details.

You know what Rock, after looking at it for a bit it looks pretty good. I think its the buttons that throw you off the GS buttons are a little bigger and sort of rounded. the IS buttons are more sharper looking. But the steering wheel still looks good.

big props to my friend pornaddict! He kicked this off on his car first and helped me out; he sourced everything as well for me. Everything works as it should (airbag, paddles, stereo controls etc). <br >
does any one have write up for wiring to clockspring?

it fits , just have to shave a bit off the plastic to clear into the clockspring alignment.
I need to wire, im going to double check and try wire in frquencies in a couple days.
However im sure it needs to be spliced into the colum. Have to take apart the trim.
As far as fitting detonator to clockspring , i used 91 camry or corolla ,i forgot ,the airbag is rectangle.
Detonator to is350 arbag is a 'square' fit.
