Default My $425 GS

Hi Guys,

Like the title states I bought myself a 99 Black on Black GS 300 from work for $425. Needs a little work here and there but seems to run decent. I had to order a new VVTI solenoid and a couple bulbs to get her rolling decent.

Great buy!
Can't wait to see what you do with the car.

Even if it needed a new motor and interior's trashed...you still came out ahead considering the small costs involved in getting it back 100%

Wow, how many miles? It's too bad more people don't know the value of these cars. Properly maintained they'll run forever. They can buy new all they want, I'm keeping mine!!!

I sound like a broken record now but we NEED a thanks button for this post.

For brute-force relability... best Toyota pickup was the RN110 Pickup.. the 22R engine was indestructible, more of a brute then a diesel. Best Toyota sedan was the XV30/40 Camry, the S-series engine is good to 350k-400k miles. Best Toyota luxury sports-sedan is the GS 2nd gen. What little time I've had with mine says the car, well maintained, is a tank.

The only down sides of the GS400 (so far) is weight (compared to the Camry), and the brutal expense the dealer experience wants to be (have absolutely no interest in ever visiting the local dealership). The weight translates to more wear, and the parts are heavier and have to be replaced more frequently, if you want the quality to survive. There's fewer units on the road, so not as many used parts out there. And if something breaks, fix it fast, and fix it right, or pay the price later. Yet if you're a geek who can wrench, it's a great car to debug and fix yourself (purchase #1 is a factory manual and odb2 scanner)

I ended getting on wholesale from one of the dealers I buy cars from. Their techs couldn't get it to run.

For the money you saved, you can do a lot of things to her. You gonna concentrate on the outside appearance, or under the hood ?!?
