Best tire size for 18x8.5/18x9.5?
Hey guys, I'm new here, about to pick up my first GS300 (I messed with Volkswagens before this, bad idea), I'm really excited to build one up, I've wanted one so long. I'm trying to build something with a mild VIP aesthetic but can perform as well, but I'm trying to gauge what would look and perform best with the wheels I have picked out.
I'm picking up Tein coilovers, will be going for 2.5-3 inch drop, and a set of Work Eurolines, 18x8 or 8.5 in the front (depending on the best deal I can find) and 18x9.5 in the back, and I'm not sure what size tire I should go with. I've heard 235/40 front and 255/40 rear would be best for a solid fit, and 22540 front and 245/40 rear would be a good fit if you're trying to round out the sidewalls without fully stretching them.
It's been a while since I messed around with wheel set ups and I'm super rusty. Can I get some expert opinions from y'all? User experience would go a long way.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I didn't know if I should put this in the general section or one of the specifics.
tl;dr version. Bought GS have wheels need tire size

235/40 will rub a little bit if you have decent offsets (you should have included those in your post) and a drop that big. I had a 235 on an 8.5 inch rim in the front and had to roll my front fenders and my front offset is only +33. Probably gonna go down to a 225 when i get new tires up front. In the rear I have 245 tires on 9.5 rims with +30 and havent had issues.
tl:dr version: 225/40 and 245/40 is what i would go for
