I want to repaint my bumper.. Onxy black.. Paint code 202 and from what iv read we dont have clearcoat? So do i just spay the primer and paint.. Thats it? How do you care for the paint and how is it protected??? How does it shine?

With those links, your "no black on my cloth after polish" statement says there is clear coat.

Honestly, I'd like to see one of the oem paint from Lexus without the clear compared to with clear. Didnt think single stage could ever look good.

Maybe it depends on what year, theres a 99 on this list with no clearcoat and a 2000 with clear coat

I have had 3 black gs's.. From what i remember. My 98 gs400 paint was a horrible horrible brown color... It was onxy black but the paint looked so sun faded i didnt like to drive it in the daytime.. Maybe it was the single stage, my 2000 gs300 was also onxy black and mannnn did it look fresh waxed.

No wonder this paint fades so easily... When I get mine resprayed I'm having a clear coat put on.

Why would lexus skip one of the most important stages of painting? I'm amazed to say the least...

Single stage is the paint and clear/hardener mixed together and shot at once. The other is the base coat shot first with the clear coat afterwards. Both have clear but one is mixed with the paint and the other is over the base coat.
