is this even possible?? i know alot of off roading guys and drag racers will use them. does anyone on here currently have one installed in their open diff.?? i know you can probalby find a whole new lsd unit for 1000+ bucks easily, was just looking for an inexpensive way do get the lsd effective with a whole new unit....

There is no "inexpensive" LSD insert for our diffs. The are a few companies that make aftermarket inserts, but those are upwards of a $1,000, and any used MKIV Supra TT Auto LSD diff is 15+ years old, and everyone wants an arm and a leg for them.

 

at that point why not just weld it?

 

After having a vehicle with a welded diff, unless it's primarily a track/drift vehicle, I'd highly recommend NOT doing it.

 

Agree. Even for drift/track....it would be better to have strange mill a spool for it.

 

yea I see that now...(no inexpensive way) it just sucks to call something a performance sedan then it really not PERFORM as best it could. I luv my gs don't get me wrong and not going to get rid of it, just get tired of being overly excited whenever im on leveled ground and get it just right to lay down two black strips instead of eating up one tire....lol

That's actually quite reasonable, but it's still about $750usd, plus time any shop time if you don't have the tools to pull the diff and do the swapping of the ring gear, unless you purchase a donor ring gear. Depending on how much power your have, the supra 3.76 was one of the best ratios I believe. IMO the GS4 3.26 is too tall and the GS3 3.92 is a little short.
