climate controls aren't working

My 2001 GS300 has been rock solid, except I recently lost almost all functionality of the interior climate controls. Specifically,

1. When I turn on the fan, it only blows out cold air - not air conditioned air, but cold air. When I adjust the heat setting up, nothing happens.

2. The fans are stuck blowing air out to the windshield (defrost). When I attempt to use buttons to redirect air to my feet or vents, nothing happens. (This is a change from what was previously the case. When I first experienced a problem with this, the air would only blow out of the vents. I disconnected the battery and reset the car and now it only blows air out to the windshield).

I brought the car to my local Lexus dealership to ask them to run a computer diagnostic test to figure out what the problem was. They ran a test and said that there was a problem with the computer that controlled the fans/heating/cooling system, but they couldn't be sure whether it was a chip or a board or what else, and told me that it would cost more money to even arrive at a full diagnosis of the problem than the car was worth...

So, I am stuck. It's cold and getting colder and I have no heat and have freezing cold air in defrost mode.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

yep just replace those three servo motors and you will be all set... Brian did a good writeup on how to do it yourself and save some money....
