Default steering wheel swap-out possible???

Hey my '99 GS4 is still going strong, only 160K miles.

Wondering whether I can do a steering wheel swap out for a newer wheel from a much newer Lexus GS or IS. I have the shift buttons now, but would like to get a wheel with paddles.
Can this be done easily? Do newer wheels fit on older GS? What would I need to watch out for? How about AIRBAG issues?

Thanks,
Jerry

I remember reading somewhere that the splines are different on the newer (06+) style steering wheels and won't fit a 2GS. However, there is a thread around here somewhere where somebody retrofitted just the newer paddle shifters to the stock steering wheel.

Def don't wanna do that - wanted a new wheel feel with different shape. The stock '99 wheel isn't sporty enough.
