So I ordered new downstream o2 sensors from RockAuto. Both bosch, both saying they fit on their site. They come in, boxes match their part numbers from the site. Get the downstream off, screw the new one in as it is hanging there I noticed the plug on it didn't match the others I've seen. Take a look.....

This is the new cylinder 1,2,3 downstream o2 plug (bosch #13554)

I figured maybe the put the wrong sensor in the correct box......

BUT

RockAuto, Autozone both say that plug works on the GS300 cylinders 1,2,3 downstream, the Bosch plug pictured above is PN13544. I can't be crazy, I've had my brother look and try it and that Bosch plug does not fit into our harness. If you look at the Denso/UltraPower/Walker on RockAuto they all look identical to the stock sensor.

Someone tell me I'm crazy.

yes you are crazy for not paying a few more dollars for OEM denso for your emissions.

don't get bosch for your ignition either.

I've never had an issue with any Bosch products I've used before. The issue is the sellers aren't actually checking whether or not the product actually fits the car. Could of easily happened with any other product on any other car to any other person. It probably has and goes unchanged, even RockAuto lists this Bosch sensor as a favorite items, which is more than likely a hype created by RockAuto themselves. It can't be price driven as they are only a couple dollars apart.

I'm sending this one back and getting the Denso sensor and informing them of the situation. Probably won't do any good, but maybe some other folks will see this and avoid this situation.

I've bought two VDO lambda sensors. At the time that I purchased them (the last one was this March) they were $170 and now that I looked again they're $320.
So I was a lucky sob to get them that cheap.

The question is what will I buy the next time an O2 sensor fails.

over the years...ive seen bosch be a fail when it comes to parts for japanese cars.

I had the same issue with Bosch last month. I had returned all of them right away and went to another local retailer who carried OEM Denso sensors for a lot less than Bosch which have completely different connectors.LESSON LEARNED!

And here they are. I was so pissed when I found out the hard way that the connectors were not the same.

Simple. Because it's well known that bosch products doesn't work well with Japanese cars. I mean WELL KNOWN.

My friend bought an alternator Bosch and I told him that he was better off getting a used OEM because it won't work. 24 hours later he's calling me asking for a tow truck number.


Same thing with my father and his LS4

Oh is that a fact? There are two guys in this thread who made the mistake, and the manufacturer doesn't seem to know or care.

There is a thread about what o2 sensors to use, there are several OGs in there recommending Bosch oxygen sensors and that "they worked just fine".
Obviously they used the universal kind and spliced in the old connector, but my point is about the sensor Bosch sells as a "direct fitment".

I pulled that old thread out by searching "Bosch", and it is the first and really only perfectly matching inquiry about what brand of oxygen sensor to use. So if someone who had just bought a Lexus needing that sensor replaced would of seen that and went ahead and bought the same Bosch sensor and be in the same situation I was just in, and VIP161, and several others.

I used Denso for all 4 of my o2 sensors. No problems whatsoever.

Yeah, the only Bosch sensor that doesn't work is the one I mentioned above. I used a Denso on that one.
