Congrats. That color is sweet, man!

Here's the word on DRLs. Early 99s do NOT have it. Check your manufacturing date. I believe those mfd February '99 and later got 'em.

Thanks for all the compliments guys, I'm really happy with my GS and look forward to making a few mods to it. I'm thinking about getting some new wheels for it and have looked at some OEM 17" chrome wheels. What I'm wondering is will I have to lower the car to make it look "right" or will the addition of 17s by themselves help to make the car look more aggressive.

Chrome or no chrome Factory 17s on Cinnabar?

Regarding the DRLs, my car was manufactured 4/99 and the DRLs don't seem to work. I parked in front of a blacked out office window and released the parking brake and put it in drive to confirm.

I have free access to a dyno and will be putting a K&N drop-in filter in to see how much difference it makes as well as some Polarg M6's (best place to get these?) in the parking lights to get rid of the dirty look the factory bulbs have (what was Lexus thinking?)

Thanks for the warm welcome, glad to be here!

Congrates on you new purchase. If you are in the Austin area, you are more than welcome to take a look at my GS with the L-Tuned Suspension and L-Tuned 18's. I think they look great together. IMO, 17's with a lowered GS doesn't look right.

Check the little fuse box on the right side of your engine compartment and see if there is a little metal bar in there. BananaGS said that pulling this bar out would disable your DRLs. It didn't work for my 99 GS400 but maybe that's what happened to yours. Do a search in the forums and you can find his website, it has pics of what I'm talking about.

Default DRL

I have a 99 gs300 and it doesnt have DRL. My friend has a 99 gs 300 and it does have DRL. I boggled by that but I think it may have been a upgrade which was at no cost becuse it was a safty feature. The way i new mine didnt have DRL was when i went to look at the fuse for the DRL there was nothing there. So mine didnt come with it.

Very nice color, indeed! IMO, chrome 5 spoke [even the factory 17's] look very nice on this color. And if you are going to dyno, check past threads on "proper" methodology to ensure your numbers are consistent and your mods are fully realized.

This forum does not make life easy. I have been reading all the posts from everyone and looking at their cars and it is tough to just leave the car stock. I promised myself that I would not spend alot of money on my next car and that idea went to the crapper after looking at everyone's sweet ride. I bought my GS 430 in December and I am trying to figure out what to do first. People on this forum definitely have some sweet rides. Good luck with the mods.

Congrats on the new GS, I too have recently acquired a 99 GS400 w/ 68k, white on chrome OE17's, and I am in Dallas, TX. Your Cinnabar color is sweet, and yes I would vote for chrome 17's for it.

Or I even saw a car your color on the Dallas Tollway the other day, it had chrome Lexus OE SC430 rims, yes they look very poor on the SC, but in chrome and with the new star center cap in place of the pie pans, the car looked great on the 18x8 wheels!

Where in Texas are you located?
