Default nasty vibration at highway speeds

I'm hoping for insight. My GS rides smooth during city driving. But once I get to 60mph and higher I have a nasty vibration. I'm on 18s with new tires (yes I'm using hubrings). And I've had an alignment done. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks! !

Does the steering vibrate worse when braking? Check your rotors for warping. If you have high miles on your car may want to consider bushings. Also, are your tires balanced? It may be that simple.

just about 3 weeks ago, I felt the vibrations... I first got the tires balanced and it got better, but vibrations were still there.

While I was doing research here, I learned about the issues with front suspension bits. The bushings in caster arm wears out, resulting in front toe out, puts strain on the ball joints and it snaps, causing thousands in damage.

I changed the caster arms (bought from Sewell with Club Lexus discount), Lower Ball Joints, tie rod ends, gave it an alignment and my vibrations are now 100% gone. (and also gone is the clunking sound from the front). My car now feels like an entire different new car, even hitting the bumps feel 100x better. Zero vibrations.

No, it doesn't get worse with braking. And yes my tires were just balanced when I changed the tires 3 weeks ago.

Thanks for the insight. I guess that makes sense based on what I've seen and read in the forum. I didn't want to spend a ton of money and still not fix the problem. I will try to tackle this in the next few days. Thank you both for the reply.

Check your inner tie rods & your rack & pinion for play. @ highway speeds they also cause vibration & clunking

I think everyone is pretty much hitting the nail on the head. With these cars, you pretty much have to chase every probably cause in order to remedy the problem. If your wheels and tires are in perfect order, then it is time to begin the long and expensive journey towards fixing the cause of the problem. There is a sticky in the suspension section that talks all about the common problem areas of the GS suspension. Good luck!

If the car has high mileage , all sorts of causes can make the vibrations .
Check manually the tie rods , etc with your hand and try to move it . If anything move or has a play , then you have a part to replace .
Bushings also have a nasty habit of wearing out and causing play . It can also be that the guy balancing your tires is a moron and doesn`t know what he is doing ... It happened to me some years back : I put a new set of tires on Sears and the whole thing started shaking at speed . It was a new car , a Toyota Camry , so I went to the dealer and they checked everything , even replaced my brakes for free and nothing would stop the vibration .No one would think of the tires since the tires were brand spanking new . Finally , a few days later and following a suggestion , I decided to replace the tires , thinking that perhaps the tires were defective ... it had to be that . So, I went to a tire shop , bought a set of 4 new tires and when they took the tires apart , there were a dozen or so balancing weights in each wheel , around the tires , everywhere . There were even a few weights loose inside a couple of tires (inside) rolling along .
I was so pissed off that I didn`t even wanted the tires .
I have not , since then , stepped inside a Sears store , ever.
Good luck

I appreciate all of the responses. I am going to check the tie rods tomorrow. It sounds like it will be a lot of detective work. Thanks for all of the ideas and past experience. Much appreciated!
