Exclamation Like GS430 MORE than LS430 - but I'm too tall!

I just bought a Custom Lux 04 LS430 for me to replace a 2002 BMW M5, and just yesterday bought a 2002 GS430, and while I like the smartkeys, rear heated seats, and shear quietness of the LS, I like everything about the handling dynamics of the GS. Still silky smooth, but quicker steering ratio, much more steering feel, less suspension travel and body roll, inspiring much more confidence. In short, I'd swap out my LS430 in an instant, except....

I'm 6' 6", and ALL torso. My arms and legs are average length for someone 5' 10", and so my torso makes up for that to reach the 6' 6" stature. My hair grazes the headliner even on the LS430, and I feel like I'm a solid 1.5-2.5" too tall for the GS.

Curious if there are known ways to get the seat to go lower. I'm tempted to go as far as having a shop weld in lower seat brackets. Just curious what y'all have done to address this issue?

Thanks!

i think this is a first here on the forum with someone being to tall for the GS... even with the seat back and all the way down you still graze the liner? Custom welding may e an option but what about race seats? They seem lower and a deeper bolster? years ago someone installed tan race looking seats and looked quite good...

This seems very frustrating...

^^^^^^^HAHAHAHAHAHAH!

I do have a suggestion sir. See about getting an LS430 Sport package (has the "sport suspension badge on them).

They have stiffer struts and springs, larger sway bars and i believe beef'er control arms. I have one and I love it. I'm honestly shocked how well it handles. It is noticeably different than a stock LS..but still an LS.

I'm 6'3 and have zero issues with gs300....may dad is 6'6 drives an 04 Z06 corvette daily driver no issues either....guess I'm trying to wrap my head around this lol...I mean I don't gangster lean or anything but I do put the seat all the way to the floor and lean back far enough so my 4 yr old still has a Lil leg room lol just gotta adjust seat and mirrors accordingly...I personally prefer to lounge....cars aren't made for above average height but most especially the gs and ls are pretty accommodating....long story short your not shaq here lol get ur lean on and enjoy the sporty feel that the gs 430 will give you...

im 6'6'' also and ive been driving my gs for the past 7 years now with no issues. Try sitting in a miata or a s2k and then go back in to the gs. Let me know if it still feels small lol.

OP here. I own a 1992 Miata, and I fit just fine with the top down. plenty of room for legs. Remember, I'm different than most tall guys. I have short arms, short legs, super long torso.

So what you have the torso of yoa ming? Lol even at that I think this is over exaggerated.....The cars not small at all....doesn't matter the model...I could be stretching here but I'd bet you never felt comfortable in car....that being said don't complain about ride or handling if your in turn not gonna face the facts...The "boats" you "fit" in aren't sports cars.....2nd fact....average man is around or under 6 ft....Thus cars are designed to fit the many not the few....drive a truck or stop complaining lol

Wow, what an extraordinarily helpful post.

I wasn't complaining, I was explaining my situation and asking if anyone had experienced something similar. Apparently not. I guess I'll just move along and deal with my LS430. Have a great day.

I wasn't trying to be rude it's just the truth....The gs is literally inside almost the same size as an ls....you not looking at a big change there. ....The backseat is where the size is difference is really but I bet if you looked up the interior specs of both vehicles the difference is negligible....again sorry for the bluntness but if the performance and handling is what you want the gs430 is a great upgrade in that respect all around

Also if all you need is an inch or two of lowering more for the seat....just cut what you need out of the mounts and weld them back together....same as you did before basically a custom bracket is overkill I would think....A cut and weld is just as strong

I'm 6'4" and I've had both GS and LS. The LS is just a tad bigger, but not by much.. (I have specs sheets)

Headroom: LS has half-inch more headroom than the GS
Legroom: GS has half-inch more than the LS
Shoulder: LS has half-inch more than GS

GS has the most legroom of most cars 44.5"
LS isn't that much bigger (I also have a tall Torso and I fit fine in either car) - I do prefer the GS over the LS.
