Never had a problem with CRC MAF cleaner.

Also clean throttle body with CRC throttle body cleaner.

Are you using an aftermarket air filter/air filter system? K&N or similar type that requires oiling of the filter? If so, don't spray too much oil...that's how the MAF and throttle body gets gunk on there.

Also use ethanol-free gas and put fuel injection cleaner in your tank....hope that helps.

If that still doesn't fix the problem...scan for code...maybe its your spark plugs or coil packs.

Good luck.

Used CRC maf cleaner and also CRC TB cleaner this last week on my 98 GS400, worked great with no issues. Cleaned up those dirty little sensor wires on my maf nicely. Just make sure to let it dry completely.

I used it on my 01 LS430 with no problems. It doesn't have the Vortex MAF.

I took my maf sensor unit out last night and sprayed it with CRC maf cleaner. I basically just shot a few bursts of the cleaner into the bottom end of the unit.

Question: does the unit come apart/be disassembled for better cleaning? I though I heard some folks mention a screen or something inside that could be dirty also.
It looks like a thick black plastic card with a large plastic bullet on the end (sorry for the poor description).
The two screws that go into it gave me the impression that it could be taken apart; though I didn't force the issue.

thanks in advance.

DO NOT try taking it apart... just remove it from the car... spray it let it dry.

I've used this product now on a 1992 SC400, 1998 GS300, 2007 IS350 without a single issue at all.

Read the detail on the bottle. You should not use the CRC MAF cleaner on a Harman whatever type MAF sensor on a GS300.

I have used with no issues, I use very rarely, I would rather brush it with a cloth given the choice. but I also know my MAF's....

Totally safe with ALL HOT Wire type MAF sensors. If you see 2 resistors, those are the ones that you spray on.

Read the fine detail...

When I got home and read the can, the MAF cleaner says "DO NOT use on vehicles with a Karman-Vortex air flow sensor, e.g. Toyota Supra Turbos, Mitsubishi's and most Lexus vehicles." Can anyone tell me if the SC430 uses a Karman-Vortex air flow sensor? The sensor on the car has a Toyota Denso part number. If it is a Karman-Vortex, what brand of MAF cleaner is okay to use with our cars? Thanks!

Has anyone met the leprechaun who has ever had an issue with this on our MAFs? I have yet to see their post... yes the label states do not use it but we have yet to meet the person who has issues with using this cleaner. I've seen some with issues for installing without letting g it dry and others who damaged the wires by poking them with the straw... but please someone e for the life of this thread and all other CRC threads please link the failed cleaning so we can end this age old debate lol.
