Default Whining sound from power steering?

So I noticed when parked if I turn the wheel you hear a slight whining sound from the engine area. Now common sense tells me it's the pump but the fluid was just changed yesterday. Does this mean the pump is going bad or can it be something else?

Could be a little air in the line. With car running You should hold steering wheel to right all the way for a few seconds and the all way to left for a few seconds then repeat after changing the fluid.

Hold the steering wheel all the way without removing the cap or doing anything? That removes air?

Make sure the level is right, take the cap off the and go left to right the whole way a few times, put the cap on hopefully your air will be gone...

im assuming you checked the level? ps noise is usually associated with low fluid level

Yea I checked it's actually slightly higher then the fill line. That can't be the noise right?

Try'd it with the cap off, still the same noise Does the fluid have to be flushed ? Or drained not make this noise go away?

Is this a GS300 or GS400? On a 400, with the remote tank, I think I'd replace the spring clamps with real clamps. What happens is the hoses harden and the spring clamps aren't strong enough anymore. So, when you take things apart and put them back together, you can't get a proper seal and the pump sucks air when it's pulling from the tanks.

Real hose clamps will prevent it from pulling air. If this is a 300 with the tank built into the pump, it doesn't apply.

Doing this from memory. I think I remember spring clamps. This was a problem I had with another car with the same kind of remote PS tank setup.

Is the tank external or internal? I have a GS400 with an external tank. My IS300 though, the tank is built into the pump so, there's no clamps to mess with. If you have an external tank, it wouldn't hurt to replace the spring clamps with regular screw type hose clamps and see what happens.
