Question 98 GS300 Break pedal Stiff, loud beep noise

Hey Guys,

I am new to the forum, but I have been searching around for my answer. I just am not sure.

Well my problem is , when i was driving my 98 gs300 out of no where, I heard this loud beeping noise that was constant and would not stop. It sounded like beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep (sort of like that beeping sound for emergency broadcast on the TV).

I pulled over into a gas station to see if I turned the car off and back on would the beeping stop. It did not. My brakes stopped working, they are really stiff. It seems that they are locked down, they will not come up. My ABS, vsc and other dash lights are lit up and all are solid.

I took it to my mechanic and he had my vehicle for a week and has not figured out what the problem is. So now I am looking for help elsewhere before I have to take my vehicle to a dealer.
Do you guys have any ideas???

Once I get my vehicle back in front of my house I can post a video on youtube so you guys can see.

Thanks for any help,

When those 3 light up together it could be several things but I think I stick to the brakes. Check for a leak and the brake lines. Normally when I bleed the brakes and the fluid is low it'll beep until I build up pressure again. Or ABS controller

Could very well be your master cylinder/booster that just took a dump. Or it could be something simple as a blown fuse or relay.

Find a new mechanic.
Most likely you need a working ABS/brake booster controll unit.

Someone has a thread about rebuilding the unit motor.
I believe this could be the failure point of these units.

Get it properly diagnosed then you can decide what to do about sourcing one.

Good luck.

I had my car taken to the dealership for a diagnoses. The Guy told my wife that I needed a "brake booster pump motor" and said it would be $2900 WTF!!!. I wanted to ask you all is this what I need?

That looks about right...

Just curious, how much was the diagnostic fee at the dealer?

I have one in a 98 GS400 I'll sell. I don't know if it'll work in your GS300 though. You'll have to do the leg work on that one. I'm not allowed to sell on here for another couple weeks but, you can find me on DC craigslist parting out a GS400.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEXUS-GS300-GS400-GS430-BRAKE-PUMP-MASTER-CYLINDER-ABS-HYDRAULIC-ANTI-LOCK-98-05-/171147212295?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AGS300&hash=item27d92b3607&vxp=mtr
I see them on Ebay too. Ebay ad suggests the GS300 ones are specific to the GS300.

Sometimes the car will start without the beeping noise and the pedal being stiff.
But the majority of the time the pedal is very stiff and you hear the beeping noise.

Default Gs400

My 1998 gs400 is making a loud beeping/screeching noise from abs pump area you can hear it outside and inside it's constant on the dot every 5 seconds never stops no lights are on my dash no one knows what it is. Do I need a hydraulic booster or the whole abs pump ?

You should scan for abs codes if you haven't already, then go from there.
