Default Help Finding Loose Foreign Object Rolling Around In Passenger Side Trunk Area

Hi guys,

I'm chasing an odd problem. I have a small loose object (nut, screw, bolt, etc) rolling around in my trunk area towards the passenger side. When I hit the gas hard, I can hear it rolling backward a few inches. When I hit the brakes hard, I can hear it roll towards the front by a few inches.

I thought to myself, "this should be easy to find," and went to work...

I looked above the rear head-rests and ran my hands all over that area, nothing.

I then removed the spare tire and jack, to see if there was any sign of the loose object there. Nope, spare tire compartment was clean and empty.

Then I removed all the trunk liner and with a flashlight traced every visible compartment/crevice. I looked around and below the Navigation device. I took a magnet and ran it all over that region where the sun-roof drains run. Nothing.

This is a bit embarassing, but I honestly spent 2hrs tracing everything and found nothing.

I'm wondering if it's possible that one of the shock nuts may have fallen in some hidden compartment when I installed my coilovers? Is there a way that something can fall into the frame-rail itself?

I don't know what to do next other then head out to an empty parking lot and have someone literally sit in the trunk while I goose the gas and then the brake as they listen in closely to try to isolate the problem, lol.

I am wondering if this object may be balancing on the top of one of the suspension components maybe??

This is rediculous. Any ideas you guys can share will be appreciated. Any non visible compartments back there I should look at?

Thanks.

Hi folks, just to wrap this up in case anyone else experiences something similar.

I misdiagnosed this by focusing on the trunk area initially. It turns out that the object making noise was a press clip responsible for holding on some interior 1/4 panel pieces. It's possible that the previous owner may have done some work in that area for stereo/speaker purposes.

Anyway, problem solved!

While we are on the topic, has anyone noticed any visor vibe/rattle?

Since putting on the low pro 19s I get a very slight high frequency noise cing from the visors. If I angle them down slightly, the noise is eliminated by 90%.

Since both parts that come into contact are insulated, I don't know how that could be making noise.
